It's so thin. Won't the oil just run off?
No. Bob Marvel's Custom Oil has the viscosity of water because it contains no solids like Teflon, graphite, moly, waxes, paraffins, or plastics, so it can’t build up and can’t get tacky. It doesn’t even feel oily. For this reason, some people think that it can’t possibly work because it doesn’t have boundary lubrication or film strength to reduce friction.
What about cleaning my guns?
The single most important feature of Bob Marvel's Custom Oil is that it reduces carbon build-up by about 80%. With AR platforms, either direct impingement or piston, carbon build-up is an important factor. Bob Marvel's Custom Oil will dramatically reduce build-up and make cleaning much easier. With .22s, shotguns, or .50 calibers, it has you covered. These are the dirtiest rounds on the market, but you should be able to run any brand of ammunition without a malfunction.
What about corrosion and moisture?
Bob Marvel's Custom Oil repels moisture and has great corrosion inhibitors. That means you can apply it and expect excellent corrosion protection for months.
How often should the oil be reapplied?
Bob Marvel's Custom Oil creates a sacrificial surface that acts like a coating, and over time, this coating will wear off. This is where the user becomes the expert. Every application is different, but each time you re-apply, you repair the sacrificial surface. In most cases, the effect will last much longer than expected. Does the oil get thick or gummy?
Because of its low viscosity and total lack of solids, Bob Marvel's Custom Oil functions as well at -50°F as it does at 100°F. The viscosity does not change, so your first shot is never a problem.
Will the oil affect a gun's tranjectory?
As per test, Bob Marvel's Custom Oil in the bore caused a muzzle velocity increase of 42 FPS. Unless you plan to swab the bore between each shot, as with muzzleloaders or bench rifles, Bob Marvel's Custom Oil will change the trajectory if the gun was sighted in with a dry bore.
Is the oil safe to use on Polymers?
